What is a Comprehensive Vocational Evaluator?

A Comprehensive Vocational Evaluator (CVE) is a specialist who is trained to conduct and interpret standardized and nonstandardized assessments, along with performing observational measures through controlled and informal interview settings.

AWI's CVEs are professionals with a Masters or Ph.D in their profession. They work closely with the VR customer's team to help in discovering his or her interests,  employability levels, transferable skills, career goals, and aptitude, with the objective of matching the VR customer with the best suited job.

What is a Vocational Evaluation?

A vocational evaluation is a multifaceted assessment process used to collect useful information from as broad a vantage point as possible to build a comprehensive composite of a VR customer's characteristics, qualities, aptitudes, and personalities, for the purpose of achieving an employment outcome congruent with the VR customer's composite.

The CVE completes the evaluation profile and discusses evaluation summary with the VR customer. The final process is to provide a detailed report to the VR counselor to aid in the Individualized Employment Plan.

A vocational evaluation never depends on a single measure. Data gathered from a test or assessment instrument is integrated into the profile outcome, but does not determine it. For an evaluation profile to be meaningful and useful, it must provide a means for understanding the customer from as broad and integrative a perspective as possible.
